Look Inside Dior’s Storied Atelier

by Charles Manning

Dior is opening its atelier to the public for the first time ever, from now through Sunday evening. The hôtel particulier at 30 Avenue Montaigne is normally off limits to all but Dior’s haute couture clients, but LVMH has decided to pull the curtain back just a bit and let the rest of the world in on some of the magic that happens at this storied atelier.

The open house will allow the public to see Dior artisans at work, crafting everything from couture to children’s wear, bags, and jewelry.

To celebrate this historic moment, Dior has also recreated a selection of key looks from the house’s history. Each one is an identical reproduction in miniature of a dress or outfit designed by Christian Dior, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri and is made to the same exacting standards as everything Dior creates.

Of course, if you’re not lucky enough to be in Paris this weekend, these photos and videos will have to do. It does look magical, though, doesn’t it?
