Emily Ratajkowski, Hari Nef, Karolína Kurková and More Come Out for Laura Brown’s InStyle Welcome Party

by Kristen Heinzinger

Laura Brown’s fete for her debut issue at InStyle was a welcome party that dreams are made of. Last night, a bevy of fashion folk made their way uptown to UES landmark The Carlyle Hotel to toast the Aussie editrix’s March issue, along with the cover star and the eve’s co-host Emily Ratajkowski. Virgil Abloh was also listed as a host on the invitation (he designed the exclusive InStyle Off-White shirt on the March cover), but alas, he was nowhere to be found. Word has it that he was laying low after rumors that he’s being eyed as the next creative director at Givenchy. But there were plenty who made it out to toast Brown’s premiere issue, including Michael Kors, Nicole Miller, Carolina HerreraKarolína Kurková, Hari Nef, Christian Sirianio, Brad Walsh, Brad Goreski, Christina Ricci, Lena Dunham, Jenni Konner, Leandra Medine, Sophia Amoruso, Jennifer Fisher, Cory Bond, Shaun Ross, and more.

We caught up with the mod du moment, who couldn’t have looked better in Levis, InStyle’s Off-White tee, Jennifer Fisher jewelry, and braids courtesy of Thom Priano. “I love Laura—she’s incredible. When she came to InStyle, I was so excited for her, because I knew she was really going to do something different. And then she offered me the cover, and I was over the moon,” she told us. “I love how fresh and young it is. It can be the most beautiful picture with maybe a model you recognize, but traditionally, you never hear what they have to say.”

The mod and InStyle crew jetted to LA to snap the cover and feature. “It was pretty fun wearing ridiculous amounts of jewelry in downtown LA on the rooftop,” Ratajkowski told us about the shoot. “We were basically trying to sneak past all these people who live there, and there I was in those Rihanna boots in the elevator like, hi!” As for the jeans? “These are actually true vintage! I shot an ’80s movie and these were the thing I got to keep. And nothing was altered!” Natch.

Make sure to scoop up a copy of the March issue when it comes out this Friday.
