Editor’s Pick: Alexis Bittar’s Lucite and Crystal Drop Earrings

by Charles Manning

What: Crystal-encrusted spiral post earrings with labradorite baguettes and hand-crafted, Matisse-inspired Lucite drops.

(Alexis Bittar)

Who: Alexis Bittar was selling his handmade jewelry on the streets of Soho in 1992 when he was discovered by Bergdorf Goodman’s then fashion director, Dawn Mello. Famous for his unique way of mixing Lucite, precious metals, crystals, and semi-precious stones, Bittar eventually grew his company to include 15 stores across the US and countless distribution points around the world.

In 2004 he was named Rising Star of the Year at the Accessory Council Excellence Awards and in 2010 he received the highest honor of his career when he was named Accessories Designer of the Year by the CFDA.

Although Bittar parted ways with his eponymous brand in 2015, his creative spirit and singular aesthetic continue to drive the company’s unique creations to this day.

Why: The orangey Lucite drops on these glitzy statement earrings look like a cross between sea glass and coral, making them the perfect accessory for your next beach wedding or fun Hamptons shindig. They also come in teal!

How (much): $295
