A traditionally NYC-based event took place in Los Angeles yesterday, when local editors, stylists, and influencers were introduced to the next generation of design talent. Enter the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund show, which highlighted looks from each of the 2016 finalists at the Chateau Marmont. Kate Spade New York’s Deborah Lloyd hosted the festivities, along with Vogue‘s Mark Holgate and Lisa Love, and actress Emma Stone. A celebrity-heavy crowd came out for the gathering including…Katy Perry, January Jones, Amber Valletta, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jourdan Dunn, Ciara, Michelle Monaghan, Elaine Irwin, Maria Sharapova, Karlie Kloss, Nicole Richie, Kristen Stewart, Eva Chow, Asia Chow, China Chow, Jennifer Meyer Camilla Belle, Grace Gummer, Poppy Jamie, Nikki Reed, Langley Fox and Sally Singer. (We weren’t kidding!) The stars were joined by CVFF judges Steven Kolb, Jenna Lyons, Ken Downing, Reed Krakoff, and David Neville. The show featured lots of surprises, including a jazz band, futuristic robots, pillow fighters, graffiti artists, and, as if that wasn’t enough, prairie fairies with baby lambs. Hiplet dancers fusing classic pointe technique with hip-hop and urban dance styles were also on deck, in addition to hula-hooping courtesy of Karis Wilde, the androgynous burlesque and cabaret performer. In short, there wasn’t a dull moment.
The lucky designers traveled to the west side to debut their lines to the crowd, including Area’s Beckette Fogg and Piotrek Panszcyk, Brock Collection’s Laura Vassar Brock and Kristopher Brock, Chloe Gosselin, Krewe Du Optic’s Stirling Barrett, Morgan Lane’s Morgan Curtis, Newbark’s Marjan and Maryam Malakpour, Ji Oh, Rochambeau’s Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler, Adam Selman, and Stampd’s Chris Stamp.
