The CFDA & Lexus Announce The Eco-Fashion Challenge Winners

by The Daily Front Row

Yesterday, the CFDA and Lexus hosted their 4th annual Eco-Fashion challenge at ABC Kitchen for a luncheon prepared by Dan Kluger. The event honored three brands who have committed to creating environmentally responsible lines. Contestants, some of whom were not CFDA members, were required to submit a detailed application with their ecologically responsible design, 30 percent of which needed to be produced in a sustainably. Carmen Artigas, Julie Gilhart, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, Melissa Joy Manning, Lisa Smilor, Lindsay Talbot and Amber Valletta were on the selection committee, who reviewed the collections and visited their studios. And the winner is…Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin, who took home $75,000. Her collection (along with the runner-ups) will be included in the Embody collection on the mezzanine level at ABC Carpet & Home. Runner-ups Mark Davis of Mark Davis, Britt Cosgrove and Marina Polo of SVILU all walked away with prizes of $5,000. Anna Carter, Carson Kressley, Bethann Hardison, Coco Rocha, Andrea Lim, and CFDA president Steven Kolb were on hand to celebrate the winners and nominees at ABC. The other winner in the room? Us! We were lucky enough to sit at table six with the legendary Ms. Hardison, who showered our table with fab stories and hilarity. Hardison can hold court at our table any day of the week.
