Bon Appétit Throws A Lavish Lunch With Jean-Georges Vongerichten For Vegas Uncork’d

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Leave it to Bon Appétit to put your typical snowy Wednesday lunch plans to shame: Yesterday, the glossy hosted a five-course affair whipped up by Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the superstar chef’s Columbus Circle eatery Nougatine. The occasion for dipping into marvelous creations like diver scallop and provence truffle tartare and caramelized NY strip loin avec silky parsnips, roasted brussels sprouts, and miso mustard? A celebration (a few months early) of Vegas Uncork’d, the mag’s Sin City event of epic(urian) proportions, happening April 23 to 26 and comprised of a slew of food-centric events throughout the strip. (If you’re daydreaming of warmer climes and an excuse to feast, snag your tickets at VegasUncorked.com.)

Lunchtime banter involved the BA team’s holiday party, which goes down tonight at a chic, recently-opened resto and will involve karaoke—we hear EIC Adam Rapoport does quite the rendition of R. Kelly‘s “Ignition (Remix)”, FYIand whether or not to partake in the mid-meal offering of martinis. Sweets-inclined types reveled in the meal’s finale: Vongerichten’s signature warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, petite tree-like arrangements of chocolates, plus BA‘s December cover staran impossibly pretty, flower-adorned lavender shortbread. The party favors weren’t too shabby, either: signed copies of Vongerichten’s tome, Home Cooking With Jean-Georges, and a François Payard cake to go.
