Bon Appétit Reveals Its “Hot 10” Restos Of 2014

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Chic lunch break alert! Today, our friends over at Bon Appétit released, at long last, their “Hot 10” list of the best new restaurants across the country this year. Where should you be noshing on ASAP? This year’s biggest win goes to Rose’s Luxury in D.C., which nabbed the coveted Best Restaurant Of The Year accolade. Locally, Estela is the sole NYC hautespot to make the cut, while other East Coast wins went to Philly’s High Street on Market, and Central Provisions in Portland, Maine. Out west, San Fran’s Tosca scored a Hot 10 spot, as did Seattle’s Westward, Måurice in Portland (Oregon, not Maine), and Grand Central Market in L.A. Texas made out pretty nicely, with Hot Joy in San Antonio and Thai-Kun in Austin on this year’s must-eat list. Last week, the mag rolled out its Top 50 eateries du moment nationally; that, plus the the Hot 10 roster culled from the Top 50, was cobbled together by restaurant and drinks editor Andrew Knowlton after months of delectable research (read: eating, eating, and more eating). A few timely nuggets of wisdom Knowlton picked up on the road about the state of restaurants these days: it’s all about bialys in lieu of bagels, throwback ’70s cocktails are cropping up everywhere, and tons of dishes are being festooned with sea urchin. Check out the full issue, which hit stands today. On the docket next? The “Hot 10” chefs will be toasted with a truly epic and totally delicious bash during NYFW. Hungry much?
