For the past two seasons, Zac Posen has been toning down the amount of gala gowns that used to own his runways. He made his name on those and deservedly so, but sometimes you have to bow down to the almighty dollar. Daywear is the ticket. There was something for Posen’s clients of all ages. Tiny leg baring jacquard shorts paired with sculptural blazers for the jet-setting youth, a ladylike blush tricotine peplum jacket with a matching knee-length skirt for the lunching crowd, and few long skirts paired with jackets to cover both the arms and legs for women that feel they need it. Posen can dress women of all ages and you could see that with the array of front row VIPs like Deeda Blair, Debi Mazar, Uma Thurman, Coco Rocha, Jourdan Dunn, and Olivia Culpo. Mazar, who’s currently filming a new Woody Allen flick, even brought her 10-year-old daughter who was also wearing Zac Posen. Thurman gave Posen a standing ovation at the end of the show.
Easy day pieces aside, we’re still most excited when we see a Posen evening gown. The standouts in this collection were the multi-colored pebble cloqué architectural gown, a crinoline cascade gown with guipure embroidery, and a coral organza off-the-shoulder tea length dress with an architectural hip drape, which looked classically Zac Posen. There’s plenty of looks to keep Zac’s red carpet regulars happy and plenty of wearable pieces for those that will actually be making a purchase.
