It’s on! Even though we all know a scene from the anticipated Zoolander sequel was shot last month at the Valentino show, according to Ben Stiller‘s Facebook page, the film has officially started production in Italy. The actor posted a shot yesterday, writing to his three million+ followers on Facebook and nearly 30,000 followers on Instagram, captioning his photo: “First day of shooting down! #Zoolander2 #Cinceitta #Finallymakingthismovie!”
But we’ve heard from a few male models that they’re not so thrilled about the sequel. One model anonymously told us, “There are a lot of dumb male models that are very young and immature. That makes for being an easy target. This business hires the young and naive, then it enjoys when they get made fun of. I have a love/hate relationship with Zoolander. But seeing just how much people enjoy seeing the return of the film shows that male models aren’t respected within the business. This movie helps to continue the stereotype of the dumb male model. Sure, it’s funny, but it really has an effect throughout the male side of the modeling business with jobs, pay rates, and respect.” Does this mod have a valid point, or is Zoolander just light fare for entertainment?
