Sergio Says! Musings From Cosmo (and Beyond…)

by The Daily Front Row

Are you prepared for another whirlwind week avec Sergio Kletnoy? We sure hope so! While the assistant to Cosmo’s top brass was rather bogged down this week with administrative duties, thanks to EIC Joanna Coles’ absence, there was plenty of hang time with up and coming popstars plus a star-studded Divergent screening. Take it away, Sergio…

“Guess who was out of the office all week? Nope, not moi, but The Boss was! I live by “when the cat’s away, the mice will play” mantra, but unfortunately when JoCo is a thousand miles away, my workload doubles and sometime triples. There’s never a dull moment in CosmoLand, and my checklist of things to do adds up faster than Lindsay Lohan’s hook up list. First I had to find my commander an Yves Salomon parka that she’s been obsessing over for months. Considering we’re now in March, the days of wearing that parka are numbered, but I guess there’s always next year. There were also 5,021 invitations to various events that had to be answered, pronto. They all took a backseat to closing our latest issue, but this week the backseat needed my undivided attention. At least I took a break from making all that tea!

But don’t you worry, I managed to have some fun as well: I spent a day on the set of a major Cosmo photoshoot with one of my fave bad-ass pop stars, and no, I cannot reveal who it is! It was everything I dreamed of and more. Stay tuned!

Then I met up with two other super talented new pop stars, including UK singer/songwriter Chloe Howl. She’s an adorable 19 year-old redhead, who sings infectious songs, has major personality, and incredible stage presence. I managed to catch her first NY show at The Box and was completely blown away! I’ve had “No Strings” from Chloe’s debut EP Rumour on repeat for months, it’s a must-have!

Next up is a Swede by the name of Tove Lo. She’s a major talent who I’ve been obsessed with since last summer. Tove just got back from a much buzzed-about show at SXSW and has also written songs for Cher Lloyd, Girls Aloud, and Adam Lambert. Her debut EP Truth Serum is out now and it’s a perfect pop masterpiece. Be sure to check out the insanely catchy “Habits”, which happens to be my fave.

I topped my week off with Marie Claire and The Cinema Society’s screening of one of the most anticipated films of the year, Summit Entertainment’s Divergent. I was so excited when I got the invite and since Marie Claire was hosting the screening inside the Hearst Tower, I didn’t have to go far. For one special night, downtown’s cool kids came to us: Zosia MametDavid Lauren and Lauren Bush Lauren, Olivier Theyskens, Christian Siriano, June Ambrose. And there were enough models to shoot a campaign: Anouck Lepere, Garrett Neff, Lindsay Ellingson, Cory Bond, Alex Lundqvist, Frederique Van Der Wal, Shanina Shaik, and Gracie Carvalho. The stars of the film, Theo James, Amy Newbold, Ansel Elgort and MC’s April cover girl, Shailene Woodley, were also there. The film was a total mind trip, and I was hooked for the entire two hours. It was a journey into dream state, and I would like a one way ticket pronto. Oh, is anyone reminded of Jennifer Lawrence when looking at Shailene, or is it just me?

Have a great weekend, I’ll be back with more next week, until then follow me on Twitter at @SergioKletnoy and be sure to check out my fave new tunes from this week…
