Sally LaPointe Spring/Summer 2017

Excess fringe, ostrich feather detailing, corsets that outline the under boob…you could imagine Kim Kardashian wanting to get her hands on the sheer, nipple-baring peach t-shirt dress with matching corset. It reminded us of a certain show last season in Paris, but nevertheless there were some stellar pieces in both the skirting and outerwear pieces (both strong suits of Sally LaPointe). The opening woven and fringed skirt was a beautiful statement maker and an embellished cream trench coat should fly off the racks. And be prepared to see those leather jackets with the cut-out sleeves everywhere. Some of the embellished sequined cocktail dresses that closed the show felt special, but could have done without the corsets. LaPointe has a loyal following in the fashion world and beyond, and deservedly so, but we like LaPointe’s collections best when her designs are aimed at smart, edgy women like herself.
