PAPER keeps it kind of simple for the big three-oh, as they choose Courtney Love and Brooke Candy to take on a duo of anniversary covers. Please note, the simplicity comes in regards to the design of the covers, sans headlines and shot on very simple backdrops. Because nothing else about these cover girls is simple. Take Candy, for example, the budding pop-singer and rapper who used to be a stripper. Nowadays, she’s a muse of Diesel’s Nicola Formichetti and was styled by the designer for this shoot, in which she wore as many pieces of jewelry as humanly possible (and then some). And you’d better believe she was extremely candid in her interview: “I believe in sexual freedom, I promote it, but me personally? I haven’t had sex in six, eight months, maybe longer. I think to have sex you should be in love…” A sweet sentiment, non? Meanwhile, Love, who needs no introduction, had other things to chat about: “If you Google ‘Courtney Love’ and ‘cheese,'” she says, “you’ll see I’ve been talking about cheese for 25 years. I have a nutritionist who told me there’s an opiate substance in cheese. I haven’t done drugs since 2005, but I’m battling a cheese addiction.” Finally, something else to think about on this lovely Hump Day. While you can head over to PAPER‘s site to read more juicy tidbits from these two ladies, you’ll have to wait until September 3rd to devour the entirety of this issue, when it hits newsstands.
