Oscars Inspo! Net-A-Porter’s Tracy Taylor on Getting the Look

by Paige Reddinger

The Oscar gowns have come and gone, so now it’s time to do a little inspired shopping! Net-A-Porter’s L.A.-based senior style editor, Tracy Taylor, gives us her top five Oscar looks and their shoppable counterparts so you can get the look now. Time to start thinking about those summer party dresses, non?

Alicia Vikander: Alicia is a bonafide style star after her blockbuster performance this awards season. Yes, she had the genius of Nicholas Ghesquire for Louis Vuitton behind her but she’s worn the looks rather than the other way around. Plus, her hair, makeup, and accessory choices are always on point. Here she carries off both a bright pastel yellow strapless gown embellished with another trend—shine—and finishes the look with a middle finger ring, a fresh half-up/half-down center-parted hair style, and a modern, large dangle earring—another big SS16 trend. She is elegant, yet has just the right amount of modernity with a more than generous helping of cool. SHOP THE LOOK

Brie Larson: Brie Larson turned Gucci’s brand of vintage-quirky-chic into a red carpet moment worthy of an Oscar winner. Cobalt blue is something we didn’t see on the runway from Gucci, but designer Alessandro Michelle’s mood still reigned supreme through this gown. She paired her dress with an embellished belt, drop earrings, and a center parted ’70s hair nod with an embellished hair clip. She also wore a pinky ring and pointer finger ring reminiscent of what the designer showed on the runway. SHOP THE LOOK

Rooney Mara: There is no one better suited to showcase the season’s neo-Victorian look that Ricardo Ticci sent down the catwalk in his FW16 couture show. Rooney Mara pulled off this look effortlessly. Cloaked in ivory lace, she finished the style with a modern warrior princess updo by Adir and her trademark intensely dark lip. SHOP THE LOOK

Julianne Moore: Wearing Chanel, Julianne Moore took the cut-out trend to its coolest yet most elegant point. Black is the perfect canvas to keep cut outs chic. She chose an architectural shaped earring to finish the look, which also included a big beauty trend on this year’s red carpet: the center part. SHOP THE LOOK

Saoirse Ronan: Shimmer and shine has by far been the most popular trend this awards show season, and Saoirse Ronan should take the gold for crossing the well-earned finish line in this stunning Calvin Klein emerald green dress. Mixing up one long diamond and one emerald earring, she juxtaposed the glamour of both her dress and the jewelry with beachy hair by Adir, which kept her look modern, young, and fresh. SHOP THE LOOK
