Net-A-Porter Nabs Another Fine Jewelry Client

by Paige Reddinger

Net-A-Porter is cornering the fine jewelry market by launching high-end brands like Buccellati, Repossi, and Piaget in recent months. Now the mega luxury e-tailer will be unveiling an exclusive pop-up partnership with Cartier starting this May and lasting four weeks. Like Buccellati and Repossi, this will also be the first time the luxury jeweler has sold through on online retailer outside of its own online store and brick-and-mortars. Net-A-Porter will launch the modern re-edition of the iconic Cartier Panthère watch, which was first introduced in the early ’80s. “We are honored to be partnering with Cartier to launch the Panthère watch,” said Alison Loehnis, president of Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter, in a press statement. “The collection embodies the elegant aesthetic of Cartier – sophisticated, modern, and chic. Our pop-up shop will bring this timeless classic to life for customers around the globe.”

The collection will include 12 styles in yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, and stainless steel, which can come with or without diamond bezels. Two more styles will be limited-edition and inspired by the iconic spotted panther motif in rose gold and black lacquer with white gold and diamonds. These styles will be exclusive to Net-A-Porter during the four weeks of the partnership.

“I am delighted that Cartier has chosen Yoox Net-A-Porter Group as its first online retail partner to sell the Panthère watch,” said CEO Federico Marchetti in a press statement. “This partnership with the renowned French jeweler and fine watchmaker for this exclusive pop-up is a major success and marks another milestone in our long term strategy. Our discerning customers love to shop for the very best in luxury and we are thrilled to give them access to this magnificent collection. Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans to expand our fine jewelry and watches category and bring more iconic hard-luxury brands into a global online world.”

Cartier will be available on Net-A-Porter starting 2 through May 31. The collection will range in price from $4,000 to $123,000 and will be available on a wait list ahead of the launch starting today.
