Lord & Taylor’s Liz Rodbell Gives Keynote Speech at LIM College Commencement

Last week, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor president Liz Rodbell dished words of wisdom to the fashion industry’s next gen, a.k.a. the 500-plus graduates at the LIM College commencement ceremony at Carnegie Hall. With 30-plus years of experience and as the woman who oversees merchandising, marketing, creative, stores, e-commerce direction, and overall strategy for both banners within Hudson’s Bay Company, Rodbell had some savvy advice to share. “In every job you hold in this industry, give it your best…ask questions, lots of them, and listen well to those answers,” Rodbell said. “More than anything, always seek to evolve. It will be the key to your success in the world of the fashion business where change is the only constant.”

“I also encourage you to realize this is not a business you navigate alone,” she added. “In this business people matter. How you deal with them will either fuel your growth or stunt it.”

At the commencement, LIM College awarded Rodbell with an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree and the Distinguished Achievement Award. This year’s class included the first group of graduates from LIM College’s online Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree programs, as well as the first graduates of the MPS program in Global Fashion Supply Chain Management.
