La Perla Has a New Owner

Amsterdam-based private equity firm Sapinda Holding has bought 100 percent of La Perla Global Management from Italian entrepreneur Silvio Scaglia, according to WWD.

Scaglia took over the brand in 2013. Under his leadership, La Perla has branched out into menswear offerings as well as women’s eyewear. Scaglia also focused on building the brand’s brick-and-mortar presence, opening several new stores and reopening the company’s Madison Avenue flagship. The brand also cast Kendall Jenner in their shows and campaigns during Scaglia’s tenure.

Plans are that CEO Lats Windhorst will take the reins at the brand upon Scaglia’s departure.

“Silvio and his team have done a tremendous job in expanding the business in a sector that continues to demonstrate huge growth potential,” Windhorst said in a statement to WWD. “We are prepared to further invest, to improve the financial performance of the company and to continue implementing Silvio’s vision for La Perla and its ‘Made in Italy’ creations.

“We have been looking to invest in the luxury goods sector for a while and after analyzing a number of opportunities during the last few months, we are pleased that we were able to secure the acquisition of La Perla.”
