Karl Lagerfeld’s Rainy Day Solution at Chanel

by The Daily Front Row

Wrapped in plastic? It’s fantastic! Springtime showers are no problem for the Chanel woman, because next season, she’ll be sporting lots and lots of plastique. Thigh-high boots, boater hats, overcoats, and even sneakers got the see-through treatment, which served to lighten up and youth-ify the house’s signature tweeds and knits, which were rendered in faintly sixties silhouettes. Karl Lagerfeld‘s team constructed a replica of the Gorges du Verdon (a river canyon in South-Eastern France), complete with fully-functional waterfall, in the Grand Palais to show his wares, which were worn by an A-list cast of supermodels (including Kaia, who opened the show). Especially groovy? The crystal jewels, jumbo, crystal-embellished bags, and lurex-threaded dresses.
