Jeremy Scott Spring/Summer 2017

by The Daily Front Row

“It was seedy, slimy, dirty, and kind of rough,” said Jeremy Scott of his Spring ’17 inspo. The designer looked to both ’80s-era New York and campy cartoon tropes of Nickelodeon for his Slime City-themed collection. Ready to rock body-con sequined cocktail dresses for night, airbrushed T-shirts for day, and geometric leather handbags for whenever? Same. The new color-blocked body stockings will likely court a different customer—i.e., someone who spends a lot of time onstage. But starlets and plebeians alike have plenty of reasons to invest in Scott this season. Who can resist a red leather moto jacket that’s been draped into a fetching dress, or a popsicle-print sheath? Pointed-toe heels in poppy primary colors, asymmetric sunnies, and cropped bobs with fierce fringe completed the effect.
