“Tailored silhouettes are something I’ve always focused on within my collections,” said Dion Lee at the home of Nick Minchin, Australian Consul-General on Sunday, where he was celebrating the launch of SUIT, a separate 10-piece tailored suiting collection created by Lee in partnership with Woolmark. The collection is manufactured in Australia and Italy using Australia Merino wool. Lee created the collection after noticing a gap in the market for chic professional clothing for the working woman. Lee also mentioned that his classic tailored suiting pieces he’s done in the past, which didn’t make it on the runway, were a hit in his own stores so it makes sense that Lee would want to make a separate devoted collection for suiting.
The Woolmark Company has helped Lee bring SUIT to fruition and has been assisting him with sourcing, manufacturing, and supply chain management. Lee was a fimalist in the International Woolmark Prize in Febraury 2013. “The Woolmark Company is proud to continue its association with Dion Lee, who is without a doubt one of Australia’s most talented designers,” said Stuart McCullough, managing director of The Woolmark Company. “Dion’s innovation in merino wool through both treatment and design is truly inspirational, he is well deserving of his international success.” The collection, which retails between $300 and $1500 will be available starting this month on Net-A-Porter.
