“I’ve always had a big mouth, but now I’m actually allowed to have a big mouth.” —Kyra Sedgwick

“Life is short. If you want to make a change, try it. There’s nothing wrong with a fail. You’re not going to be able to do everything, but you can try everything.” —Whoopi Goldberg

“On a typical day, I’m up by 5 a.m. and I sneak out of bed so I don’t wake my husband. I work from 5 – 7 a.m. composing with earphones. I resume composing until about 11 a.m., and then I have time for the rest of the day.” —Honoree and philanthropist Karen LeFrak

“My advice that I give to young people and students is to be nice. Everybody’s competing against somebody and there’s a lot of talent out there. At the end of the day people really want to work with people who are nice. They want to give a quote to somebody who is nice, they’ll place an order with somebody that’s nice.” —Fern Mallis

“My true secret [to staying young] is denial! [Laughs] I’m sure people say yoga or something, but in my case, denial is the key…and every year is always fun.” —Cynthia Rowley
