Danielle Bernstein, the in-demand blogger behind We Wore What and a NYFW front-row staple, has tapped into an industry beyond fashion: nightlife. Along with Paige Hospitality Group, the adorable brunette has just opened Nighty Night, a haute new nightclub in Meatpacking that opened its doors just in time for Fashion Week. That is, if you were lucky enough to make it in.
Details on Nighty Night, please!
Nighty Night is a hidden spot nestled in the heart of the Meatpacking District. It’s an intimate disco oasis that intends to part ways with all of the unfortunate trappings of New York City’s nightlife. In the early evening, it’s a cocktail lounge and gathering point. Late night, it transforms into a slice of groovy heaven, a place where everybody knows your name. No riffraff allowed! And, you have to be cool.
How did the project come about?
My two friends brought me on as the third business partner and creative director, so I created the atmosphere and designed the décor. I was involved in nightlife before I even started blogging—I interned for EMM group and did event planning—so this was an easy decision, to become a part of something so cool. Plus, I’m a party animal who’s always loved nightlife.
Tell us about the décor.
The inspiration is tropical disco. There’s a black and white tiled floor, palm leave prints on the wall, a disco ball, real palm plants, and mirrored tables for an old-school vibe.
Who showed up on opening night?
Opening night featured the movers and shakers of New York City nightlife. We had Harry Brant, EJ Johnson, DJ Cassidy, Caroline Vreeland, and Lucca and James Maslow, to name a few. However, our main goal is to keep the spot mysterious and private—hence only naming a few—so that people can feel comfortable to let loose!
