Editor’s Pick: a Brandon Maxwell V-Neck Flutter Hem Dress

by The Daily Front Row
Brandon Maxwell

What: A jersey and satin twill mini dress by Brandon Maxwell in a trending color scheme.

Who: Brandon Maxwell’s career in fashion began in 2009 when he started working as a styling assistant. After logging hours with the likes of Edward Enninful and Nicola Formichetti, he struck out on his own as a stylist for Lady Gaga. In 2015 he launched his own ready-to-wear label, and his design career took off at a breakneck speed. By 2016 he was a finalist for the LVMH Prize, and this past May he won a CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year. It appears that the next decade of his career will be filled with more growth: on his runway a few weeks ago he introduced menswear for the first time.

Why: Hands down, the biggest trend from the Emmy’s red carpet was a pink/red color combination. Maxwell himself even got in on the action with his look for Mandy Moore. This cute dress is an easy way to work celeb style into your everyday life. The bodice is classic and flattering, while the fluttering hemline adds a bit of fun. On the runway, Maxwell styled it under a bright red longline blazer, with the pink hem peeking out. Chic!
