Desigual To Open Its Largest Flagship In Barcelona

Following a recent $369.4 million investment from Eurozeo, Spanish apparel brand Desigual is planning to open its largest flagship to date in Barcelona by the end of the year. The three-story space will be approximately 9,800-square-feet and will be located on the Plaça de Catalunya in central Barcelona next to an Apple store. The first two floors of the flagship will be completed this year with the third floor slated to be completed by 2016. In addition to the brand’s store in Preciados, Madrid, this will be the second location to sell all categories including womenswear, menswear, children’s, accessories, shoes, living, sport, and beauty. The store will also carry a designer collaboration with Monsieur C. Lacroix (the moniker under which Christian Lacroix now designs) and a Desigual collection inspired by Cirque du Soleil.

Spain continues to be the Barcelona-based brand’s biggest market accounting for over 20 percent of sales. Desigual has 95 stores in the country and over 3,500 points of sale; the label plans to open 12 more stores in Spain in this year alone. The brand also plans to expand their Dshops, which are shop-in-shops in multi-brand retailers. In 2013, the brand opened 23 Dshops and plans to reach 50 this year. Valued at $3.72 million, Desigual also opened 89 mono-brand stores last year and sold 26 million items.
