The long lineup of Edie Parker clutches on the red carpet at last weekend’s Emmy’s awards shows that Brett Heyman‘s creations have become the go-to staple on the evening bag front. We caught up with the designer on her new Spring/Summer 2017 range at her Fashion Week presentation, as well as her pal Charlotte Ronson who came out to support.
Tell us about the collection.
It was inspired by a lot of these vintage silk scarves I have from the ‘70s. I found materials that would work. There’s a lot of newness but very signature.
What goes into putting a presentation together for bags?
The challenge is really asking people to come because they’re busy between shows. We’re working with Black Frame who is fantastic and brought some really amazing people but it’s just getting friends to come and see everything.
What’s always in your clutch?
A credit card, eyeliner, lip-gloss, phone, and gum.
You recently launched home accessories.
Yes, we launched quietly last season with a much bigger launch this season. They’ve been doing really well—they’re a great gift.
PLUS! A Moment with Charlotte Ronson
What brings you out to Edie Parker?
I love Brett. She’s one of my favorite people, so I came to support. I’ve always been a huge fan since she first started.
How’d you two meet?
We have many mutual best friends so we’ve known each other for years.
What have you been up to lately?
Just forever working. Working on a few upcoming projects which is exciting and when I can talk about it will. Otherwise just enjoying my summer and that’s about it.
You’re best friends with Shoshanna Lonstein. Did you guys hang out this summer?
We did. She kind of spends all summer out at the beach so when I can head out there to see her. We had a nice catch up dinner a few days ago but we’re always chatting and talking and in touch.
