Yoga apparel brand Alo Yoga has found an interesting way to give back. Today, the company is launching Alo Gives, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to bringing no-cost yoga to children — specifically, 2 million school children across 100,000 classrooms in New York and California. Alo was helped by Scholastic with connecting to these schools.

Alo created a curriculum of classroom-friendly tutorials that can be done at desks or at home. The 12-week series includes themed exercises and meditation videos tied to social and emotional learning. The themes include titles like Be Flexible, Be Brave, Be Strong, and Be Focused. Each week features three yoga classes and two mindfulness exercises, as well as a printable worksheet. The best part is that the entire curriculum is available online for free.

Alo believes that yoga and meditation will give children the mental and physical skills necessary for social and emotional. Getting them to move and breathe helps them learn to quiet their minds, mute negativity, and focus on learning in a clear-headed way and find calm in the midst of challenge, fear or frustration. Most adults will find these skills useful as well.
