Hanako Maeda, the designer behind the buzzy label Adeam, hosted an al fresco soirée at La Sirena in Chelsea, New York City to celebrate her Resort 2017 collection. Guests like stylists Tom Van Dorpe, Nausheen Shah, Elizabeth Sulcer, and Lisa Jarvis plus Natalie Joos and sister Evelien Joos, Julia Loomis, photographer Sophie Elgort, Harper’s Bazaar‘s Mallory Schlau, W‘s Caroline Grosso, Cosmopolitan‘s Aya Kanai, and more came out to celebrate Maeda’s new collection. Guest dined over dishes like leek and mascarpone-stuffed pasta with castelmagno and brown butter at the latest Mario Batali hotspot to open in over a decade.
Maeda is well-known not only for designing incredibly chic and wearable clothing, but also for her incredible dinner parties. To t toast her Spring 2016 collection, she hosted a dinner at Sushi Nakazawa, the brainchild of Daisuke Nakazawa, a former apprentice of famed sushi chef Jiro Ono of Jiro Dreams of Sushi fame. In other words, Maeda’s dinner parties are an invitation you simply cannot turn down.
As for her Resort collection, Maeda continued to take inspiration from her Japanese heritage, which has proven to be a winning motif in her designs. This season she referenced yukatas, which are casual kimonos made of lighter fabrics for the warm-weather months, and Shibori organzas were worked into beautiful, romantic floor-sweeping gowns to a stunning effect.
