Ladies and Gentlemen! Boys and Girls! Children of all ages! Moschino went to the circus (literally) over the weekend to show their spring 2019 menswear and women’s resort 2019 collection. On Friday night, creative director Jeremy Scott and his team created a real circus at an equestrian compound in Burbank, California. The evening featured trapeze artists, acrobats, popcorn, cotton candy, unicycles, clowns, and some of the world’s greatest models including muses Stella Maxwell, Mitchell Slaggert, Soo Joo Park, and Jordan Barrett.
The circus theme was the brand’s response to the current state of global affairs. The show notes tell us a little more: “The message is clear – amidst the adversity, there is hope; communicated in the vibrant metallic trinkets stitched into quilted black tulle – just slightly obscured but dazzling in its own right. A superhero bodysuit beneath a literal red satin cape, a lion tamer tuxedo in a beaded sequin leopard pattern – lean into the unknown, embrace it, become fearlessness itself. When society feels like a tightrope walker leaning in the wind, Scott is here to entertain astonish and impress.” No kidding.
We sent photographer Marco Ovando and photo assistant Theo Venable to capture behind-the-scenes images from the greatest show on earth. Prepare for some Barnum & Bailey realness.
