Paul Andrew Finds Inspiration in Ferragamo’s Archival Florals for Resort 2018

by Paige Reddinger

Paul Andrew recently debuted his second season as the director of footwear design at Ferragamo and for Resort, Andrew dived into the archives to mine founder Salvatore Ferragamo’s 15,000 floral designs. Some prints were also based on photographs Andrew took while perusing the flower markets in London.

“The Ferragamo archives provided inspiration that a designer could only dream of,” Andrew told The Daily. “Discovering Salvatore’s exploration of florals throughout his creations, I tapped into this energy as I began working on Pre-Spring 2018.”

The result was a fresh rainbow of colors that had us wishing these were already in our closet. A highlight? The chic satin evening mules that can easily transition from day to night. “The sleek satin evening mule, in a rainbow of color and celebrating the iconic golden Flower heel, marries innovation and craftsmanship, carrying forward an Italian tradition for the fast paced woman of today,” said Andrew.

Ferragamo has found solid footing in Andrew, who is injecting new life and excitement into this luxury heritage brand’s most important category.
