Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring 2016

by Paige Reddinger

Giambattista Valli’s Spring Haute Couture show was full of red-carpet-ready numbers for any of Hollywood’s young starlets, Valli’s now signature tulle plissé gowns among them. A few are still more suitable for the more daring Rihanna types, but the red and black gowns certainly looked Oscar-worthy. And if you’re one of the leading PYTs in Tinseltown, why wouldn’t you be dying to wear one of Valli’s ultra-chic mini dresses?

Aside from the designer’s masterful take on florals (this time they were inspired by the Parc de Bagatelle, the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Palais-Royal, and the Jardin des Tuileries), some of the themes popping up throughout the collection include bishop sleeves, Watteau backs, and empire waists, which aren’t suitable for those with any hint of curves—the minute bodices just peek above the skirt. In any case, there are plenty of looks both for the red carpet and daily lives of the one percent!
