Tabitha Simmons won big at the CFDA Awards as accessory designer of the year last week, and the celebrations are still in full swing: Last night, Refinery29’s editor-in-chief Christene Barberich and the CFDA’s Steven Kolb hosted an intimate dinner along with Ken Downing and Neiman Marcus as a part of their ‘Spotlight Series’ of suppers at Omar’s. Simmons greeted her chic set of guests at cocktail hour, including Lily Aldridge and Derek Blasberg. “It’s been such an honor to win and to have your peers vote for you. I was completely surprised to have won,” said Simmons. What’s ahead for the designer? “I plan to do what I keep doing and produce good product,” Simmons said.
Post-drinks, guests sat down for dinner. Two long tables were decked with tall lit candles and white flower arrangements, plus some great party favors: Tabitha Simmons clutches in a range of colors and patterns, and gift cards to Neiman Marcus. Who made the cut for the dinner of 50 industry peeps? Alexa Chung, Jessica Hart, and Tali Lennox, plus designers including Andrew Rosen, Eddie Borgo, Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman, Lulu Frost’s Lisa Salzer, and more.
“This ‘Spotlight Series’ is all about celebrating innovative visionaries in the fashion space, and obviously Tabitha is doing something incredibly special,” said Barberich. “She is redefining what luxury means to this whole new generation of women who really appreciate quality and a story behind what they wear.”
