Proenza Schouler has inked a deal with Lancôme to develop a limited-edition fall makeup collection dropping this July.
“Lancôme has always represented the epitome of luxury beauty products, so it is like a dream come true to be able to collaborate with such an iconic and historic brand,” the brand’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez said jointly in a statement. The duo has previously worked with L’Oréal, the owner of Lancôme, on developing and licensing their perfume business. Proenza Schouler’s debut parfum, Arizona, was unveiled earlier this year.
“Born by the radical approach of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Proenza Schouler fashion is the manifesto of a strong, free femininity. The idea of ‘empowerment’ is at the heart of their values, just as it has always been at the heart of the Lancôme philosophy,” Françoise Lehmann, general manager of Lancôme, said via press release.
McCollough and Hernandez announced the collaboration on their Instagram with a trio of posts, each concisely captioned: “#proenzaschouler x #lancome coming soon.”
McCollough and Hernandez have reportedly been given carte blanche on the makeup collection, which will stress the designers’ “boldness” and “unique approach to color.” The pair has done one previous makeup capsule, a collab with M·A·C Cosmetics in 2014 that veered on the daring side with poppy red and oxblood lipsticks, a plum nail polish, gothic thick black eyeliner, and an ombré peach blush.
But judging from their fall 2018 beauty look (their latest, as they will show spring 2019 this summer), fangirls should expect a more muted collection, hopefully an arsenal to achieve that whole no-makeup-makeup look.
Cool packaging can all but be assumed…
