Nude In The Name Of Art

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) The arty crowd is never a dull bunch, especially when they show up to fête the annual Take Home A Nude auction, hosted by The New York Academy of Art and held at . Factor in that Daphne Guinness, L’Wren Scott, and Paul Kasmin were co-chairs and Walton Ford was the honoree, and you start to get a taste of what the evening was all about. There was nary a tattered artist type in sight. Rather, the room was filled with quilted Chanel purses sized like small paintings, Jenni Kayne ensembles, Aquazzura heels, and Mary-Kate Olsen coordinating with her beau Olivier Sarkozy in pinstripes.

The fashion-y guests included Lake Bell and her hubby Scott Campbell, Bob Colacello, Jen Brill, Petra Nemcova, Misha Nonoo, Naomi Watts, Gucci Westman, Nicole Miller and Glenda Bailey while the artist crew brought out the likes of Lola Schnabel, Charlotte Kidd, Tom Sachs, and Sarah Hoover. To bring out the bidders from within, wild “animals” on stilts walked around and one lone safari wrangler kept tabs on the silent auction, microphone in hand.  As each bid ended, the walls of five galleries were cleared of their works. Once the rather generous cocktail hour wrapped, a live auction of Ford’s work was hosted by Sotheby’s Eliza Osborne. As soon as the 188 pieces of art were claimed and over $900,000 was raised, select guests joined the VIPs, art mavens, and celebs for a seated dinner. We can assure you, not one attendee stripped to the nude!
