Miss Me Delivers a Y2K Denim Dream with The Ribbon Collection

by Tom White

Miss Me is leaning into its roots with The Ribbon Collection, a denim-forward drop that reimagines the charm of early 2000s style through a fresh, feminine lens. Inspired by the return of statement bows and all things ribbon adorned, the collection plays with nostalgic silhouettes like low-rise bootcuts, bold embellishments, and metallic details, all updated with a more refined touch.

We caught up with the Miss Me team to chat about the inspiration behind the collection and what this launch says about where the brand is headed next. Read on for the full scoop.

What inspired The Ribbon Collection? How did the idea to use ribbon details come together?
We were inspired by the growing return of feminine, playful elements, especially statement bows (Ribbon). They’ve become a fresh way to express individuality, particularly among Gen Z. We took that trend and gave it a Miss Me twist, pairing ribbon motifs with embellishments, metallic threads, and our signature graphic elements with a bit of edge.

This drop has a clear Y2K influence. Were there any specific trends or looks from that era that shaped the designs?
We revisited early 2000s denim: low-rise bootcuts, rhinestone crosses, and bold stitching. It was a time when denim was bold and expressive, and we wanted to bring that spirit to The Ribbon Collection.

How did you approach designing the collection so that it would feel nostalgic but still current?
We looked back at what made Miss Me stand out in the early 2000s: bold stitching, signature embellishments, and denim that made a statement. The Ribbon Collection takes those same ideas and reworks them with a more refined and modern feel. It brings the past into the present in a way that still feels like us.

What do you hope people feel when they wear pieces from The Ribbon Collection?
We hope they feel more confident, with just the right touch of Miss Me. It’s that small detail or bold finish that makes the piece feel special, without having to say too much.

How important was it for this collection to speak directly to Miss Me’s community?
It mattered a lot to us. Miss Me has always had a strong connection with people who love denim that tells a story. With this collection, we wanted to keep that connection, to create something that feels familiar to those who’ve been with us, but also fresh enough to reach a new audience.

How has Miss Me changed or evolved since the early 2000s? What feels different today?
Miss Me has always stood for bold, expressive denim. In the early 2000s, that meant lots of embellishment, heavy stitching, and statement graphics. Over time, we’ve refined that approach. The designs are more streamlined, the details more considered, and the overall look more versatile. What feels different now is the balance. We’re still making pieces that stand out, but in a way that feels more modern.

What does The Ribbon Collection say about where Miss Me is headed as a brand?
The Ribbon collection reflects how Miss Me is moving forward, not by shifting away from who we are, but by expanding how we express it. As a brand known for bold, expressive denim, we’re now exploring new ways to bring that same spirit into more refined, trend-aware designs that connect with a wider audience. This collection marks a step toward cleaner lines, updated proportions, and a sharper focus on versatility – all while keeping the bold attitude that’s always defined us. It’s part of our broader effort to stay culturally relevant, generationally connected, and creatively confident.
