Instagram Meets With Artists Over Nudity Policy (Dazed)
A group of about 20 artist and activists — including Marilyn Minter — attended a meeting at Instagram’s New York headquarters to discuss the platform’s nudity policy. Currently, the company’s policy allows nudity in photos of paints and sculptures, as well as images of post-mastectomy scarring and women breastfeeding. However it does not allow images, videos, or digitally-created content depicting “sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks” and “some photos of female nipples.” However artist and activist Micol Hebron — who attended the meeting — argues that the policy lacks nuance and “[polices] the bodies and identities of users.”

Instagram has not yet officially updated its policies, and it will be unlikely that we find out what was said in the meeting. Dazed reports that it was a private affair, and that all attendees signed non-disclosure agreements.
