Fausto Puglisi Spring/Summer 2018

by Paige Reddinger

Italians aren’t known for their minimalism, but Spring 2018 has seen more than one designer toning things down in Milan. This season Fausto Puglisi‘s muse was Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, which provided for some softer inspiration than last season’s meditations on Catholicism and Papal attire. Lace and tulle touched nearly every piece of the collection, so it wasn’t minimal in the traditional sense but it did feel like a cleansing of sorts in the pure white and black palette. Standouts were the opening lace shouldered baby doll dress with exaggerated sleeves (ditto the floral version), the drop waist lace moto-inspired dress that followed, the lace paneled skirts, and a white ruffle tiered gown. Heavenly inspiration served Puglisi well this season.
