Diane Von Furstenberg and Victoria Beckham are set to headline Singapore Fashion Week in May. The five-day event has teamed up with the CFDA, headed by Von Furstenberg, to promote local designers abroad. Singapore’s runway rundown was formerly known as Audi Fashion Festival Singapore; this will be the first time the event will be called Singapore Fashion Week (SFW). The event is expected to bring out A-list celebs like Cate Blanchett and South Korean actress Yoon Eun Hye.
The CFDA has been known to support younger fashion labels and designers looking to gain visibility globally. Their CFDA initiative provides chosen, relatively unknown labels with a seed fund of $108,000 to help promote their collections and sell to retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Harvey Nichols. Singapore celebrity Velda Tan will be debuting her fashion label at Singapore Fashion Week and Thai-American designer Thakoon Panichgul will also be showing his designs. DVF is expected to open the show on May 13th with her collection, while Victoria Beckham will be the show’s finale.
