Dion Lee Fall/Winter 2017

by The Daily Front Row

It was another neutral moment for Dion Lee this season, save for a few pops of color like cerulean blue, burnt sienna, or hunter green, and the electric orange backdrop. The designer cited chain jewelry as an inspiration, which popped up in the form of army-like sashes across the bodice, ’90s chain wallets hanging from pants, and chic versions of the straps you’d find on your granny’s eyeglasses. Pleated slipdresses, skirts and minidresses with chainlike texture, and velour moments were crowd-pleasers, but the oversize puffer jackets felt like a departure from the minimalist silhouettes and the expert tailoring that have helped Lee become a NYFW staple.
