Best of Pre-Fall 2016: Creatures of the Wind, Opening Ceremony, Public School

by Paige Reddinger

Pre-Fall 2016 is in full swing and The Daily has been busy attending what feels like hundreds of previews. Over the next week we’ll present the key looks and styles from each collection for a roundup of the latest trends and must-have pieces from all of the top collections. Below a trio of cooler-than-thou designers present their latest creative coups.

Brand: Creatures of the Wind
Starting point: Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters were all about keeping it simple this season. The collection had that je ne sais quoi cool factor that the duo have laid claim to, but even the more straight-laced ladies will find plenty to adore here.
Highlights: Laminated bouclé jackets and vests, easy daywear, ’60s mod staples, and glam eveningwear.

Brand: Opening Ceremony
Starting point: Powerful women. Creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon were envisioning the country’s first female face on the $10 bill.
Highlights: Colors and textiles drawing from a banknote design, eye-popping lavender hues, ’80s-inspired blazers, and sleek outerwear.

Brand: Public School
Starting point: East meets west in a sporty-inspired chic culture clash. Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne took their collection to the far flung environs of Dubai for pre-fall 2016.
Highlights: Jersey-inspired kimono jackets, mesh tops, and expertly styled layering.
