Following their fall 2018 show, designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka joined supermodel Coco Rocha and SAP America’s Jennifer Morgan for a panel discussion about the ways fashion is changing in an increasingly digital world. Titled “Demystifying Digital: The Future of Fashion is Now,” the panel touted the launch of the new Badgley Mischka runway app, developed with SA, which allows viewers, both on-site and online, to vote on their favorite looks in real time, providing the designers with useful data about what looks are resonating most with their fans and customers.
“I’m embracing technology even though I don’t always understand it,” said Badgley. “What the buyer likes isn’t necessarily always what the customer likes so today what I saw is very different. That kind of information is invaluable”
Morgan pointed out in the talk that “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication with technology today. Certain things never go out of style—you still have to make sure you have enough of your product, you ship it, have enough inventory, ship it globally, etc, and those are things technology can make simpler.”
