10 emerging designers and graduates who were enrolled in the Academy of Art University’s Master of Fine Arts degree program were spotlighted at NYFW this season, premiering their Spring and Fall 2018 collections. Two menswear collections and five womenswear collections were shown on the runway, leading to an innovative, fresh range. “Working with the designers has been an honor for me,” said Simon Ungless, Executive Director of the School of Fashion at Academy of Art University in a statement. “A group like this does not come along often enough. They have built solid friendships through the process of collection development and have become a team. Each collection has an individual spirit yet the process has been executed as a collective. The craftsmanship and techniques are couture and warrant a trip down the runway. Each designer has already achieved a level of success while maintaining maturity and humility that is rarely seen.”
This year’s lineup of designers included: Dina Marie Lam, Eden Slezin, Rheanna Oliver-Palanca, Carlos Rodriguez, Hailun Zhou, Joanna Jadallah, Cana Klebanoff, Saya Shen, Jelly Shen, and Ryan Yu. Check out images from the runway show, below!
