(NEW YORK) Under Opening Ceremony’s direction, Pier 57 will be turned into a SuperPier for NYFW, complete with shops, quick eats, and the retailer’s first-ever runway show. Far from typical fashion week events, this weeklong market extravaganza will feature shoppable pop-up stores housed in shipping containers, all under the umbrella title of Opening Ceremony BTW (by the way, BTW stands for “by the water”). Boutiques will include DKNY exclusively for Opening Ceremony, Rihanna for River Island, plus an Estée Lauder pop-up salon.
As a supplement to the clothing and beauty options, there will be a smattering of food choices, including Asia Dog, Café Habana, and (brace yourselves) the possibility of a cronut from the Dominique Ansel Bakery. In true Carol Lim and Humberto Leon fashion, this intricate event manifested in a mere six weeks, with the creative pair’s far-out ideas coming together to form a world’s fair type celebration for the fashion set.
