Model and Daily fave Toni Garrn is one-upping her own philanthropic efforts with the launch of the Toni Garrn Foundation, which will support girls’ education. The foundation amps up her ongoing partnership with Plan International Germany and the Because I Am a Girl initiative. “Girls throughout the world should be able to make decisions about their own lives,” said Garrn in a statement. “If they have the opportunity to attend school, they will become independent and strong. This is what I saw firsthand during my journeys with Plan. For this reason, girls are in the center of my relief projects, which I will also promote through my own foundation.”
After visiting Zimbabwe last year, Garrn and Plan International developed “Educational Opportunities for Girls in Zimbabwe,” which Garrn plans to fund entirely through her new foundation. “A big problem is that the way to school is extremely long,” Garnn added. “Many children must walk up to 15 kilometers. This is very dangerous especially for girls because they often become victims of violence and abuse on their way to school.”
