Kathleen Kye of Kye (The Selects)

How long have you been a fashion fan?
I’ve loved fashion and clothes for as long as I can remember. I loved to dress myself with whatever I could find around the house. There was nothing I was interested in more than fashion, so it was inevitable for me to pursue it as a career.

What makes a great outfit?
Something you feel comfortable in as well as it makes other people comfortable too.

What advice would you give to fashion students about getting into the industry?
Surviving in fashion needs not only great talent but also business skills and endurance. I advise students to be aware of every aspect of it.

What is your favorite thing about New York?
I like the fact that pretty much everywhere is sort of walkable.

Tae Young Ko of Beyond Closet (The Selects)

What is one of your earliest memories of working in fashion?
I transferred in university to become a fashion major. I had to submit a report after attending fashion week and that experience helped me decide to become a fashion designer because I loved the energy and excitement.

What does good style mean to you?
Expressing your own personality and staying unique.

Have you ever been to New York before?
Yes, it’s when I showed my first collection! I can never forget that moment when my dream finally became true. I love being inspired by people who I see on the street.

How would you describe your aesthetic?
My style is very classic and my own re-definition of a preppy, Americana aesthetic.

Where can we follow you?
