Cartier has opened its new location on Fifth Avenue and 59th Street today while its iconic flagship mansion on 653 Fifth Avenue undergoes renovations for the next two years. The new 11,000-square-feet boutique will be its largest worldwide; it was designed by Bruno Moinard, and features high ceilings, chandeliers, oak paneling, and glass displays with dedicated areas for engagement and bridal jewelry, watches, high-end jewelry, vintage pieces, and accessories.

The winter winds were acting up during The Fashion Group International’s 2014 Rising Star Awards, but inside Cipriani’s 42nd Street location, the crowd was warm, and quite happy. The attendance of emerging designers in the categories of accessories, beauty and fragrance, home interiors, fine jewelry, menswear and womenswear gave off a decidedly optimistic vibe, but the midday mimosas helped the ambiance as well.

Back to school! Yesterday Humberto Leon and Carol Lim showed their Pre-Fall collection for Kenzo in a series of three presentations to editors at the General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen on 44th Street in New York. That meant editors sat at library tables as models desceneded from above where they exited the stacks until they formed a staggered front against the books on the library’s main floor as DJ Andrew Kuo played oldie hits from the likes of Roy Orbison.

Rebecca Minkoff is opening a pop-up shop in the Meatpacking district for the holidays. The store, located at 427 West 14th Street, opened its doors today and will be open through December 22nd. She’s getting in on the Black Friday act with a tiered promotion on all styles: spend $200, get 20 percent off; spend $400, get 25 percent off; spend $600, get 30 percent off. Students get a 10% discount with a vaild school ID. They’ll also be a “selfie station”, where customers are encouraged to take pictures and post them on Instagram with hashtag #timetoshine.

FRIGO, designed by Cortney and Robert Novogratz, is celebrating the launch of its luxury underwear line in the U.S. with a pop-up shop on 402 West 13th Street in New York. Swing by now through November 26th to spruce up your skivvies. But that’s not all that will be on offer: Saturday Glenn O’Brien will be on site signing copies of his new book The Cool School. Also of interest? A lifestyle area tricked out with a lounge, espresso bar, a Rizzoli-stocked library, a projection wall for short films, a vinyl record selection from Other Music, and an interactive photo booth.

Calvin Klein gave editors, stylists and bloggers a preview of their “white label” Spring collection during a presentation at their West 39th Street space yesterday morning. The label presented their apparel, jeans, swimwear, underwear, and accessories lines and creatively transformed the room into a maze surrounded by white chain-link fences and a blue sky projection that spanned the length of the room. What was the idea behind the fences?

Victoria Beckham announced today on her Twitter account that she’s be setting up some posh new digs for the U.S. wholesale team in Chelsea. The designer is opening a 4,500-square-foot New York office space in January of next year to house the wholesale team and to serve as a seasonal showroom. This is the brand’s first office outside of the U.K.
