Yesterday afternoon, we caught up with sibling duo Kate and Oliver Hudson at the launch of their latest venture, FL2, a men’s activewear line with JustFab. This isn’t Kate’s first foray into designing activewear. The actress, who stunned in a killer crop top and black trousers, launched her women’s active line, Fabletics, in 2013. While male mods decked in clothes from the line played ping-pong to the tunes of a live DJ, Mark Consuelos made an appearance, as well as Derek Blasberg and author Lucy Sykes. Chatting all things athletics, the sibs gave us the lowdown on the Terrace at The Gramercy Park Hotel.
Congrats on FL2! How did the conversation come about that you wanted to start this?
Oliver: I remember getting a phone call!
Kate: Yeah, I called Oliver and our brother Wyatt and said ‘Maybe you guys want to come do this with me!’ And then Oliver got scared and was like what the…
Oliver: My body was really bad. [laughs]
Kate: He goes, ‘What do you mean?’ And I was like just come check it out, I’ve been doing this for a while, and we should really all do this together. I felt that Oliver represented everything we’re trying to embody: Fun, everything in moderation, fit…and sometimes lazy!
Oliver: It’s true! They’re clothes you can do a serious workout in, or just sit around in at home.
Did you both grow up playing sports?
Kate: Yes! I was the soccer player of the family. I can say that!
Oliver: I played baseball in high school, and I like ice hockey, too. Plus I’m really into golf these days.
Are there any sports that scare you?
Oliver: Highligning. Definitely.
Kate: Maybe bowling?
Kate, what’s your workout routine?
Kate: Everything! I’m really great at recovering. But I do everything from pilates to spinning to dance. I also like TRX, and I l also love the Brazilian Butt Lift DVD. It’s one of my favorite things ever!
