Chic eats and even chicer company! Richard Chai hosted a stylish klatch of editors on Wednesday for a private supper in the rather magical back room of The Musket Room to celebrate his collab with Jewelmint. A whiskey concoction served in a champagne flute kicked off the eve swimmingly (mistaking the strong mix for bubbly is the parfait accident, no?) as guests nibbled on the resto’s smoked scallops and oft-lauded mushroom custard. As for those cute initials-festooned boxes serving as placecards? They contained Chai’s Jewelmint creations to take home (or slap on immediately, as some eds did), replete with angular cuts of sterling silver and a constellation of sapphire-hued Swarovski sparklers. Accessorizing before even appetizer-ing! Sounds like a fashion function to us. The intimate crowd supped on quail, gazpacho, and salad before seguing to the main feast. All of the eats were spectacular, but let’s just say some of the cod orderers, delicious as their fish filets were, found themselves envious of their steak and cheese pie-inhaling neighbors! Lesson learned: carnivores mustn’t leave The Musket Room without tucking into the not-really-pie-like dish. The white vino flowed as dessert went down, replete with sweets like Pavlova and rich devil’s food cake. Le sigh! A delicious hit of a shindig on all counts.
