Paris Fall 2013: Vionnet

by The Daily Front Row

(PARIS) Vionnet
Creative director Goga Ashkenazi thrust Vionnet into the fold this season. To start, Look 1 featured a noir suit jacket folded like leaf petals at the lapel to reveal pops of lime green. Similarly, a swinging leather jacket folded open to reveal flaps of azure blue, which was also mimicked in the fitted leather pencil skirt that followed. Fur was another strong point throughout the show, as seen on a ponyhair sapphire tailored coat, a sumptuous white and brown fox fur vest, and a statement making grey, white, and black astrakhan jacket with tufts of canary yellow goat hair. Overall, the look was sleek with a bit of an edge, but for those looking for the brand’s famous Grecian styles, pieces like a one-shouldered white column gown paired with a big black patent belt or an understated, midnight cocktail dress that draped to one side and fell long and flowing in the back had just the right amount of the classic Vionnet DNA.
