Lots To Love About 'Hateship Loveship'

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) If we told you that Kristen Wiig took on a very serious role, and didn’t crack a single joke during the entire flick, would you believe us? Your Daily was reminded, yet again, that the funny lady has some serious acting chops at yesterday’s Cinema Society screening of Hateship Loveship, in partnership with Montblanc. With a red carpet located in the depths of the Museum of Modern Art, Wiig made an appearance, along with her co-stars Sami Gayle, Christine Lahti, and director Liza Johnson, to promote the dramatic number. The film, which is based on Alice Munro’s short story of the same name, follows the life of Johanna Parry, played by Wiig, a mousy and very shy caregiver to an angsty teen, Sabitha, who is played by Hailee Steinfeld. When Sabitha and her mischievous BFF concoct a plan to ignite a faux romance between Johanna and Sabitha’s father via email, they could never imagine the outcome. But we won’t ruin the whole story for you!

So, what was Wiig’s favorite part about taking on a serious role? “Absolutely everything!” she exclaimed. However, we’re hoping she decides to balance out these serious roles with her trademark funny gigs. Following the film, guests made their way downtown to The Skylark. The crowd included cast and glittering list of attendees, which included Gilles Mendel, Sophie Sumner, Candy Pratts Price, Alysia Reiner, and Natalie Joos, sipped on Qui tequila tipples, not so coincidentally named Hateship and Loveship. And in conclusion, we decided that we’re in love. With this film, at least.
