Calling all fashion-obsessed students: LIM College is offering a bachelor’s degree program in Fashion Media beginning this fall. The new degree will focus on creating content for traditional, social media, and video platforms, as well as media business management and marketing. It will still cover the business of fashion, LIM’s claim to fame, but combines it with creative and consumer behavior studies. Students will also be involved in The Lexington Line, the biannual student magazine that merges fashion, beauty, culture, and college life, and exposes them to writing and reporting, publishing, runway and product reviews, styling fashion spreads, and marketing and distribution.
“LIM College is ideally suited to offer a degree in Fashion Media. With our location in New York City—the nation’s fashion and media capital—and signature blend of classroom instruction and required internships, students will have access to a multitude of opportunities for real-world experience as they develop the wide-ranging skill set required of future media professionals,” said LIM College president Elizabeth S. Marcuse. “LIM has been a leader in fashion business education for nearly 80 years, so adding a Fashion Media major is a natural progression for us.”
Fashion Media majors can curate their curriculum from courses like reporting for both long- and short-form media, fashion styling, graphic design, intellectual property law, video and photography, brand building, global cultures and media, which sets them up for careers on the business and creative sides of marketing within fashion, as well as fashion publishing. Class of 2021, we’re watching!
