IMG Confirms New York Fashion Week’s New Homes: Skylight at Moynihan Station And Skylight Clarkson Sq.

by Alexandra Ilyashov
As reported in The Daily on February 17, IMG has confirmed Skylight at Moynihan Station as NYFW’s new venue; shows will also take place a bit further south at Skylight Clarkson Sq. The new venues replace NYFW’s home since September 2010, Lincoln Center, which hosted its final season at the UWS locale in February. Both venues have hosted fashion shows in seasons past, including Rag & Bone and Prabal Gurung at Moynihan Station and Ralph Lauren at Clarkson Sq. At Moynihan Station, there will be a handful of spaces in use: the Mail Sorting Room, which accommodates 1,000 people, the Postal Dock, which has a capacity of 500 (confirming The Daily‘s report nearly two months ago). Additionally, the Postmaster Suite on the third floor will be utilized for “exclusive events” at the venue, which is located just west of Penn Station on 8th Ave. between 31st and 33rd Streets.

“From the hundreds of thousands of jobs it creates to the billions of dollars of economic impact generated each year, the fashion industry contributes so much to New York City, and I’m thrilled that New York Fashion Week will bring so much excitement and energy to its new homes at Skylight Clarkson Sq and Skylight at Moynihan Station,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement addressing the move.

As for Skylight Clarkson Sq., located on the western fringes of Soho on Washington St. just south of Houston St., Studios 1 and 3 will be used for NYFW showings, accommodating 250 and 500 guests, respectively. The space will have a catwalk-packed warm-up this summer, when the inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men’s takes place at Skylight Clarkson Sq. from July 13th to 16th

What a great venue it will be for all RTW designer’s. It’s all about bringing people (Journalists, Blogger’s and Reporter’s) together to socialize on the fundamentals of trends as well as creativity.
